Is it an urge, a feeling, or merely a chance of being in the right place at the right time? Is calling something that should always be followed, always be trusted, or a quick whim of passion that can be brushed aside depending on the situation? I believe that calling is the core of how you live your life. Something that effects every area of who you are. But where does calling come from? Well according to the bible, calling comes from God. But does that mean that we are all called to ministry? Well Christians at least. We’re called to reach others by Jesus himself.
“ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Just how are we supposed to reach others? Well, I used to think that ministry was only limited to how well you spoke in church, how your students in sunday school responded, but I’m starting to see just how wrong I was. Ministry isn’t limited by the walls of a church, the time limit of a conversation, or the level at which you know someone. It’s only limited by how far you’re willing to go to reach the person you feel called to minister to. You have to be ready to jump at calling as soon as you recognize it, and one thing I’ve leaned is that calling is never convenient, and almost certainly going to be a bit awkward. But I’m not going to let a little connivence or awkwardness stop me from reaching someone.
I will follow my calling.
